My Running Introduction

Who is Pondo and why is he on the run?

Back in 2009, I weighed just under 24 stone and was very unhealthy and extremely unfit.  I realised I needed to make a drastic change or I would not be here much longer.  In 2014 I achieved my goal weight of under 13 stone (12 stone 12) and I am still continuing to lose the pounds aiming for that healthy BMI goal.

I have since completed races in 5k's, 10k's, Half Marathons, Full Marathons and Ultra's.  Proving that once you set your mind to something, it really is achieveable

I use Strava to log all my runs as the old saying goes, "If it ain't on Strava, it didn't happen", and use my Garmin watch (currently the 645 Music) to monitor pace, heart rate and distance throughout the runs. I always love a little bit of Kudos, so follow me and throw some my way (I will return the favour!) (https://www.strava.com/athletes/7042805)

This blog is my way of keeping track of all the events, people that I meet and those that inspire me, trials and tribulations of running, and hopefully a little fun along the way.

I tend to complete race reports after each event so if you are running a race soon that I have previously completed, I hope that I give some idea of how it went for an average runner.

I am not trying to win any races, but I run to compete and take in the scenary and atmosphere.

At the top of the page you will see little tabs to show:

50 For 50 - My newest challenge.  As of 2021, I had completed 7 marathons and turned 42, with a burning desire to push myself again.  Now I am aiming to complete 50 marathons before I turn 51! That is only 43 more marathons to go - I will track each one here as I tick them off the list

Events - Race recaps of the events that I enter, thoughts and dilema's enroute

Training - I try various training plans (when I follow them) so will post how training is going here.

Interviews - As a little inspiration and insight, I will be conducting interviews with family and friends on training regimes, events and advice

For Fun - Running gives your brain a lot of free time to think of crazy things, these are a few of my thoughts (Running related)

I hope you enjoy some or all of this blog and it gives some inspiration to prove that anything is possible....see you out there!

Please share, support, comment and if you are out running say "hello", it may be me.
