Running Training - February

Running Training February

01/02/2015 I started the month with dedication and on a lone wolf run around Pennington Flash whilst Clare was at the gym I followed a seasoned runner round the course.  As I turned a woodland corner I had lost my guide with 2 possible routes, I chose wrong.  I ended up running through quagmires and dense forestry but did a 4 mile run, comfortable pace and was back just in time for Clare finishing her workout

02/02/2015 - Rosh had been pushing me to go for the 2 mile up hill jaunt for a couple of months telling me how good it would do us, I eventually gave in at the start of February and we teamed up for our 7.9 mile roundabout run, I felt awesome all the way round, even to the point that when we turned the corner to come backk down the hill at 9 kilometers and still a sub 1 hour mark I began to chasing the 10k, At the end of the run I was told off by Rosh for focusing purely on the 10k not the overall run

05/02/2015 - In order to stop me chasing the 10k PB's whilst out on longer runs, Rosh suggested I get it out of my system now and aim for a PB on just a 10k.  I retraced the steps of a previous Home Town loop which was torture for Rosh as we ran past his house 4 times and the multitude of kebab house and chip shops that adorn the main street.  On our last circuit to Rosh's house I told him to ease down, we had hit our 10k and found a new PB

10/02/2015 - Pushing for distance rather than time, we set out for our longest joint run to date, a 10.3 mile run.  I felt great for the whole journey.  I also introduced Rosh to SIS boosts, as we do not carry any water with us on the these runs (which I know is bad) but I always have SIS Boosts in my pouch for extra power, We used the Roundabout run from a couple of days earlier and incorporated an extra few miles in, our erratic pace was mainly due to traffic as we got to the each roundabout.  This was Rosh's first double digit run

12/02/2015 - Solo 10k run with Chewie in the vets for his operation, I had time on my hands so went for a run, pushing for less than 1 hour on a solo run and hitting 55 mins 50.  With this buzz of this run I came home and signed up for the Decathlon Duathlon

14/02/15 - Wishing Clare a Happy Valentines Day, I was out of the door before 8am retracing my steps on the 10k from the 12th.   Another solo run as Rosh was in the Lake District eating his body weight in Gingerbread.  When I returned home, I got a pain emanating from my right foot, time for a couple of days rest.

The pain in my foot was not going away, in fact it was increasing.  I made the decision to have a couple of days extra rest to avoid further injury, this was welcome news to Rosh as later that evening his fantastic nephew Aaryan was born.  Rosh was now a very proud Uncle and had some celebrating to do

26/02/2015 - With Rosh still celebrating, and a lot already planned for the evening I plotted a new route for a quick 10k run.  I put on my noise cancelling headphones (which would be very rude to use whilst out with Rosh) and went off to the beat.  I was back well under the hour, but my GPS had only clocked me doing a 6.15 mile run and took away the glory of another 55 minute solo 10k

At the end of February, I was feeling great and ready to push more, bring on March.
